Tuck Privacy Policy

The short version

Tuck is a personal budgeting app made by Tarahbi Apps ("we," "us"). Your budget lives in a database on your own phone. When you first open the app you choose between a Google account and a guest account, and either way your budget stays on the device. If you choose to share a pot with another person, that one pot is stored in the cloud so they can see it. Nothing else leaves your device, there are no ads, and there is no analytics or tracking.

Guest accounts

Choosing "Continue as guest" creates an anonymous account with Firebase Authentication, a Google service. We receive an account identifier that Firebase generates, and nothing else: no name, no email address, no picture. We do not know who you are.

Your envelopes, amounts, spending, savings goals and settings stay on your device. A guest account exists only on the phone that created it, so it cannot be signed into from anywhere else and it does not survive uninstalling the app.

Google accounts

Choosing "Create an account" signs you in with your Google account, again through Firebase Authentication. We receive and store your name, your email address, your Google profile picture, and an account identifier. We never see or store your Google password.

Your name, picture and email are shown to the other people in any pot you share, so they know who you are and who recorded a transaction. That is the only place they are used.

A Google account is needed to share a pot, to join one, and to buy a membership, because each of those has to work on a phone that is not this one. You can start as a guest and add Google later; the account identifier stays the same, so nothing you have already done is lost.

Shared pots

A pot is a group of envelopes with its own money. Pots are private to your device until you explicitly choose to share one.

When you do share a pot, the following is stored in Google Cloud Firestore so that the people you share it with can see the same budget: the pot's name, icon and colour, the names and targets of the envelopes inside it, and the transactions recorded in it, including amounts, dates, and any payee or note you typed. Each transaction also records which member added it.

The database is located in the European Union. This data is kept for as long as the pot is shared. Pots you have not shared are never uploaded, and neither is any other part of your budget.

What we do not do

Tuck contains no advertising. It has no analytics or tracking SDKs, no cookies, and no advertising identifiers. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Backups you make yourself

Tuck lets you export your data as JSON or CSV files. These are created only when you ask for them and stay on your device unless you choose to share or move them yourself. Once you share a file with another app or service, that file is governed by wherever you put it.

Payments

Tuck Plus is sold through Google Play Billing, as a monthly or yearly subscription or as a one-time lifetime purchase. We never see or receive your card or payment details. Google handles the transaction under Google's own privacy policy, and we only learn whether your purchase is currently active so the app knows what to unlock.

Who processes your data

Google provides the pieces we rely on: Firebase Authentication for signing in, Cloud Firestore for shared pots, and Google Play for purchases. They act as our service providers and handle that data under Google's own privacy policy.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from inside the app. Open Settings, tap the account row at the top, then choose Delete account. This removes your name, email, picture and account identifier, removes you from every pot you had joined, and deletes from the cloud every pot that you own.

Your budget is not deleted, because it was never ours to delete. It stays in the database on your phone, and the app keeps working exactly as before.

Deleting your Tuck account does not cancel a Google Play subscription, because that billing relationship is between you and Google. Cancel it in Google Play, or in the app under Settings, Tuck Plus, Manage in Google Play.

One thing we keep

Transactions are a permanent record: everyone's balances in a shared pot are calculated by replaying them, so a transaction can never be edited or removed after the fact. If you delete your account while a pot you joined still belongs to someone else, the transactions you added to that pot remain, along with the account identifier attached to them. Your name, email and picture are removed. We are telling you this plainly rather than claiming a deletion is more complete than it is.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email o.tarahbi@gmail.com and we will respond. Your name and email come from your Google account, so to change those, change them with Google and sign in again.

Children

Tuck is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections and stored in Google Cloud. Access rules mean a shared pot can only be read and written by the people who are members of it, and a transaction, once written, cannot be altered by anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the last updated date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle your data, we will make that clear in the app.
